Aga
Khan Foundation International Fellowship Program
The
Aga Khan Foundation provides a limited number of scholarships each year for
postgraduate studies to outstanding students from developing countries who
have no other means of financing their studies. Scholarships are awarded on a
50% grant: 50% loan basis through a competitive application process once a
year in June or July. The Foundation gives priority to requests for Master's
level courses but is also willing to consider applications for PhD programmes,
when doctoral degrees are necessary for the career objectives of the student.
Requests will also be considered for travel and study awards for PhD students
doing their research in Third World countries on topics judged to be of
interest to the Aga Khan Development Network. Applications for short-term
courses are not considered; neither are applications from students who have
already started their course of study.
Rhodes
Scholarship For Indian Students for PhD studies at Oxford University
Six
scholarships are awarded to Indian students each year for degree leading to

Indian
Academy of Science Summer Research Fellowships
Summer
Fellowships are awarded to bright students and teachers to work with fellows
on research-oriented projects. Approximately 75 such fellowships to students
and 25 fellowships to teachers are offered every year with travel and living
expenses paid. Announcements inviting applications appear in Resonance and
Current Science around November-December, and the selected applicants notified
by February-March can avail the fellowships for two months between April and
July. The fellowship is very prestigious. M.Sc first students in any branch of
life science are eligible to apply. All of the selected candidate candidates
are provided with a stipend of 3000 pm.
Scholarships
are awarded for postgraduate studies only (MS/PhD) both in India and abroad.
Selection process is through an initial application and interview.

Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana

The "Kishor Vaigyanik
Protsahan Yojana"
is an ongoing programme started by the Department
of Science and Technology, Government of India to encourage students of
Basic Sciences, Engineering and Medicine to take up research careers in these
areas. The aim of the programme is to identify and encourage talented students
with aptitude for research. Available to students studying XI, XII, B.Sc.,
M.Sc. B.E., B.Tech, B.Arch, M.B.B.S. etc. This programme strives to assist the
students to realise their potential and to ensure
that the best scientific talent is tapped for research and development in the
country. Generous scholarships will be provided (up to the pre-PhD.

Associateship for SC/ST Candidates
The
scheme has been initiated keeping in view the social background of the
candidates for the deprived section of the society and to provide them
opportunity to undertake advanced studies and research in Science, Engineering
& Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences in Indian Universities &
Colleges. The objective of this award is to provide an opportunity to SC/ST
candidates to undertake Postdoctoral research in Science, Engineering
& Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences at Indian Universities and
Colleges. The candidate should have a doctorate degree in the relevant subject
preferably with published research work to their credit and evidence of
independent research work. The upper age for male applicants is 50 years as on
1 July, of the year and 55years in the case of female candidates. The total
tenure is 5 (five) years (i.e. non extendable). The value of the Associateship
shall be Rs.12,000/- p.m. (fixed for five years i.e. non extendable) with an
annual contingency grant of 30,000/-p.a. and Departmental Assistance @ 10% of
Associateship to the host Institution & H.R.A. (as per rules). The
applications in the

Graduate Scholarships for professional Courses for SC/ST candidates.
The
Scheme has been initiated keeping in view of social background of candidates
from the deprived section of the Society and to provide them opportunity to
undertake Post-Graduate Level studies in professional subjects like Engg.
& Tech., Management, Pharmacy (etc. in Indian Universities and Colleges).
The objective of the scheme is to provide an opportunity to SC/ST candidates
to undertake Post Graduate Level Studies in Professional Subjects at
Indian Universities and Colleges. The candidate should have graduation degree
in the relevant subject and obtained admissible at the Post-Gradate Level in
any of the professional subject in a recognized Universities/Colleges. The
upper age limit for male applicants is 45 years as on Ist July on the year of
and 50 years in the case of female candidates. The tenure of fellowship for
completion of Post-Graduate. The
value of scholarship shall be for professional courses Rs. 5,000/-p.m. with
the Contingency of Rs. 15,000/-p.a and for other courses Rs. 3,000/-p.m. with
the contingency of Rs. 10,000/-p.a. respectively. The applications in the prescribed

University Grants Commission awards fellowship under the above scheme for
SC/ST candidates The scheme has been initiated keeping in view the social

graduate degree in the concerned subject. He/she should preferably be
registered for M.Phil or Ph.D. in any University/Institution in India. The
applications in the prescribed format given below, may be sent to the JOINT
SECRETARY, (SA), UNIVERSITY GRANTS COMMISSION, UNIVERSITY OF DELHI, SOUTH

application form must be filled in carefully. Attested copies of all
certificates and degrees including caste/tribe certificates must be enclosed
along with the Application. Direct & incomplete applications are liable to
be rejected. The
selection will be made on the basis of the percentage of marks of the
candidates in their Post Graduate examination. The decision of the Commission
in this regard shall be final.
Fellowship
amount is 8000 pm plus contingency grant of 10000 pa.
CSIR-
Junior Research Fellowship
Council
For Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
conducts all India National Eligibility Test for the award of Junior Research
Fellowship at all CSIR research laboratories and university departments for
higher education leading to the degree of PhD. The test is conducted twice a
year, in June and December. The test details are advertised in all leading
Indian dailies. The fellowship amount is Rs 8000 pm plus a contingency grant
of 20000 pa for the first two years and 10000 pm plus annual contingency of
20000 pa for the nest three years.
CSIR
– Senior Research Fellowship
Senior
research fellowships (SRF) are awarded to working professional in government
research laboratories or university departments who have at least two years of
research/teaching experience. Applications are invited through advertisement
in leading Indian dailies. Candidates who hold M.Sc/MBBS/MD/M.Tech or
equivalent are eligible to apply.
ICMR
– Junior Research Fellowship
ICMR
holds a national level examination for determining the eligibility of Indian
National candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) through
Indian Council of Medical Research. The award of Junior Research Fellowship to
the successful eligible candidates will depend on their finding placement in a
medical college / hospital / university / national laboratory / institution of
higher learning and research as applicable.
The amount of fellowship is Rs 8000 pm for first two years and Rs 10000
pm for the next two years.
ICMR
– Senior Research Fellowship
Senior
Research fellowships provide opportunities to bright young men and women to
pursue research and training invariably leading to Ph.D/MD etc. under
experienced researchers/investigators of repute in the field of biomedicine.
Senior
research fellowships (SRF) are awarded to working professional in government
research laboratories or university departments who have at least two years of
research/teaching experience. Applications
for Senior Research fellows received through out the year on the prescribed
format.
ICMR
– Short Term Research Studentship For Medical Students (MBBS)
The
STS program provides an opportunity to undergraduate medical students to
familiarize themselves with research techniques, methodology and also with
preparing reports. It is expected
that the Guides provide ample support and guidance to the student in their
endeavor.
DBT
– Post Doctoral fellowship in Biotechnology and Life Sciences
In
association with Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, Department of
Biotechnology awards Post doctoral fellowships to Indian nationals. The
applicant must possess PhD/MD/MS in Biomedical Sciences/Life Sciences. Those
who have submitted the thesis are also eligible to apply. The award amount is
12,000 pm and contingency grant of 50,000 pa. The award is tenable for a
period of two years. The selection is made through an interview conducted at
IISc Bangalore
DBT
– Junior Research Fellowships
These
are recently introduced fellowships for M.Sc students in any field of Life
Sciences. The fellowship is tenable in any University/Institute in India where
the candidate can register for PhD. The
applicants should be below the age of 28 years, and 33 years in case of
reserved categories, and women candidates. Candidates with 60%(55% for
reserved categories) of the total marks (equivalent in grade) are eligible.
The fellowship will be initially for a period of 3 years extendable for 2 more
years based on performance. By the end of 2nd year the performance
of JRF will be assessed and will be upgraded to SRF. The fellowship as JRF /
SRF will be @ Rs. 8, 000/-/ 9000/- per month + HRA as per host Institute
norms, and a research contingency of Rs.30, 000/- per year. The candidates
will be selected based on a written admission test,“Biotechnology
Eligibility Test” (BET) to be conducted at five different centers, namely, Anna
University (Chennai), Sri Venkateshwara College (New Delhi), West Bengal
University of Technology (Kolkata), Hyderabad and University of Pune
(Pune).
